Richard Ross Bartels

Mr. Bartels practice focuses on representing companies, contractors and builders in commercial disputes. His goal is achieving great results without harming their goodwill. He files and defends commercial disputes, real estate disputes, and federal IP and criminal disputes. Mr. Bartels also assists small businesses in managing diverse portfolios of contracts and intellectual property filings, while responding to actual or threatened litigation. Before entering legal practice, Mr. Bartels attended Florida State University, where he majored in chemical engineering, before moving to Charlottesville for law school. While at UVA, he focused on intellectual property law, corporate law, civil litigation and administrative law. After working as the in-house counsel at a biotech company in Charlottesville, where his focus included contracts, employment law, civil litigation, and state and federal regulatory law, Mr. Bartels moved north to focus his practice on litigation. At Ashwell & Ashwell, Mr. Bartels applies his corporate and technology background to all manner of commercial and complex civil matters.
